After all, it can be a\nstressful, complicated process with a lot at stake, so working with only the\nbest should be your number one priority. Whether you\u2019re a first-time home buyer\nnew to the real estate market, or you\u2019re just not happy with how your last\nproperty purchase or sale went down, we\u2019ve listed some top tips for you to\nthink about when hiring your next Realtor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Interview a few different people<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like you would get a\nfew different quotes for a big job, it\u2019s a good practice to meet with at least\n2 or 3 different real estate sales reps before signing on with one. Ask them\nabout their experience, specialties, challenges and references. While it may\nfeel \u2018nice\u2019 to hire your relative or friend who\u2019s a Realtor, it may not always be\nin your best interests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Make sure they are there when you need them<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your sales rep may have\nanother job outside of real estate that keeps them hopping, so make sure they\nare fully committed to you. Find out their exact availability, and make sure it\nworks for you and your schedule. Also, if you\u2019ve hired a big-name agent, find\nout if you\u2019ll be working with them specifically or various people from their\nteam. You don\u2019t want to get lost in the shuffle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>What\u2019s their experience like? <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You need a real estate\nagent who understands your local area, whose specialty is the type of property\nyou\u2019re selling or buying (such as commercial, residential, rural, etc.), and\nwho really lives and breathes all things real estate. Find out how (or if) they\nkeep up on trends, technology, local by-laws and so on \u2013 you want to be truly\nimpressed with their track record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>What\u2019s the plan? &nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A good sales rep has a\ncustomized plan for each client or listing. For example, they\u2019ll be able to\nexplain things like if you need professional photographers or videographers,\nstaging help or advice, and what repairs or renovations are most important.\nFurther, they should outline their marketing strategy in detail for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Are they a \u2018closer\u2019? <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget that one of\nthe most important jobs of a real estate sales rep is to negotiate on your\nbehalf and close the deal. If you want a specific price, closing date, or\nappliance for example, don\u2019t work with a wishy-washy Realtor who won\u2019t go after\nwhat you want. They need to have the drive and commitment to negotiate hard and\nwork diligently each step of the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Do you have a connection? <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to have a good\nrapport with your sales rep. Not only will you be working closely with them for\nweeks or months, but you\u2019re also about to give them a substantial amount of\nmoney (if you\u2019re listing your home, that is).
